Attorney Letter of Protection Coverage
Letter of Protection or LOP is used when there is no direct insurance and an attorney feels there is the potential for a civil legal case where punitive damages may be awarded. Typically the Doctor has developed a close relationship with the attorney. The Doctor agrees to take you on as a patient, based on the attorney agreement to pay your medical fees when a settlement is agreed upon.
